I've discovered Dan Tepfer with his duo album with Ben Wendel (Small Constructions, 2013). It's a collection of rather short pieces, original compositions, Monk and Tristano standards, and arrangements of classical tunes. If you haven't already, go listen to it, it's one of my favorite albums!

Jean and Renata (video)
Jean and Renata is a beautiful haunting tune composed by Ben Wendel, that I wanted to learn to play for a long time. I've had a hard time figuring out exactly what chords Wendel was thinking of, I ended up buying his leadsheet to be faithful to his thoughts!

Rhythm exercice over Coltrane's 26-2 (Video, original video)
In 2023 Dan Tepfer shared his #100daysofpractice, and offered us lots of good music. Here he plays John Coltrane's 26-2 with dotted quarters at the left hand (and a metronome clic every 2 bars). This is a nightmare to play in rhythm, you have to play the roots before or after the beat, and my brain badly wants to think of it in 6/8 or 9/8… and I'm not even trying to improvise! Bravo Dan, you're a beast!
